Junior Cyclocross Age Change Rule:
This rule affects all junior racers ages 8-18 so please read carefully.
Junior Cyclocross Camp video re-cap. Thanks to Bill from Bend Endurance Academy for shooting.
Day four was our final day at Junior Cyclocross Camp for 2018. The kids were getting picked up in the early afternoon, so we headed out early into downtown Hood River for an urban shred session.
The kids rode dirt city trails, checked out the skatepark and the dirt jump line, and checkout out the Mt. Hood Cycling Classic Crit course, before heading back to camp.
We had one more mock race and relay race before packing up camp and heading home.
We would like to say a big thanks to Doug and Courteney for opening up their home, Bill from Bend Endurance Academy for just about everything, Steven and Ivy from PDX Devo, and Sophie from Bend for helping all weekend.

Day three again saw an early wake-up for breakfast so we can get an early ride in before the heat.
We took off up towards Lost Lake where we found some gravel backroads and paved overgrown single track. The lake ended up being cold and rainy. A few kids descended back down another gravel road while a few waited at the store while Joel descended back down the pavement to get the van.
After returning to camp, we had lunch and rested up for our afternoon weight and skills sessions.
Functional strength is an important part to all bike racing, and the kids learned stretches, decompression, and strength techniques to help them be better cyclocross racers.
After our strength and stretching, the kids competed in some mock races and relay races to end the day.

The second day of Junior ‘Cross Camp saw an early wake up to try and ride before the heat set in. We cooked breakfast, geared up and checked over bikes, and headed out for a thirty-mile loop taking off from the Post Canyon trailhead.
We climbed steep gravel (near 20% grade), descended gravel and pavement and ended up back at a local swimming hole to cool down and test our rope swinging skills.
After our return to camp, we ate lunch and rested up for our afternoon skills session. Afternoon skills included barriers, dismounting and remounting, climbing, and cornering.
After a long day of activities, we cooked dinner and went to bed early (9:30) to get ready to do it all again the next day.

Thanks to everyone who came out to our second Junior Cyclocross Clinic at Alpenrose Dairy. We hope that some more time spent on your ‘cross bike will get you ready for the upcoming season of racing.
